Meet Our Aspen Hill Club Tennis Pros!

Terrance Scott (PTR) – Tennis Director - Terrance came to AHC from the Legacy Tennis and Education Center, a USTA Regional Training Center in Philadelphia, PA. Terrance has over 25 years of experience as a player, instructor, manager and tournament director having coached at all levels including the collegiate level. Terrance played college tennis at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and graduated with a business degree in Marketing. Terrance brings management experience, high energy, enthusiasm, exceptional team-building skills and a commitment to professionalism.

Jeff Klein (PTR) – Senior Pro – Jeff has worked at the Aspen Hill Club since 1979. He has coached players from beginners to professionals playing in the US Open. Jeff brings a deep knowledge and commitment to all members. His teaching method is based on understanding the mind/body connection that empowers students to accelerate their development.

John Parsley (PTR) - Senior Pro - John brings over 30 years of experience and enthusiasm for tennis, including team tennis, tournament play and teaching experience over the last 12+ years with juniors and adults.

Julien DeLaine (PTR) - Assistant Junior Tennis Director -Julien Delaine is our Assistant Junior Tennis Director focusing on the development of our young junior players ranging from the ages of 4 to 10 years old. Julien is focus on laying a solid foundation for the success and longevity in the sport. The goal is to always maintain an environment, which keeps the children motivated to learn and play more and more tennis. 

Julien is a former Mid-Atlantic and Nationally ranked junior with extensive training in USTA Player Development and USTA High Performance Coaching. He is former Head Pro for the Washington Tennis Foundation and Women's Team Coach for Montgomery College, in Rockville, MD.

Ilan Shvartz (USPTA) – Assistant Tennis Director/Senior Pro - Ilan was born and raised in Haifa, Israel and has played tennis since he was 6 years old. At the age of 22 he moved to the U.S. to play College Tennis at Stony Brook in New York. He holds a degree in Business and Economics from Stony Brook which he received in 2010. He moved to Maryland in 2012 which is when he started at the Club.

Linda Baim (PTR) – Staff Pro – Linda has been involved in tennis as a competitive player, instructor and manager since 1980. For many years Linda was the Tennis Director at the Aspen Hill Club until she retired in 1998. During those years she was ranked both in the Mid-Atlantic and the Nation in doubles. She has since returned to the club to add her administrative and teaching experience to many areas of the tennis program.

 Carole Ford (PTR) – Staff Pro – Carole has been at the club since 1990. Since retiring from the Pro Tour, Carole continued playing National tournaments and racked up a couple of Senior Women’s doubles Gold Balls. She does an exceptional job with Linda Baim working with many of the club’s competitive women’s tennis teams.

Michael Gee – Senior Pro - Michael, a top nationally-ranked junior, started off his collegiate career at Clemson University where he played on their men’s tennis team. Transferring to Howard University in his second year of college, he graduated with a degree in Political Science. While playing #1 Singles on the men’s tennis team at Howard, Michael was also named MEAC All-Conference 1st Team and MEAC Player of the Year. Michael has been at the Club since 2010.

Elliott Datlow (PTR)- Director of Tennis Member Integration/Senior Pro -  Elliott is excited to return to AHC where he learned to play as a junior. Elliott is a tennis coach that enjoys working with both adults and junior players of all levels.He has previously been Tennis Director at Regency Sport & Health for the last 7 years, where he and his programs received numerous awards including USTA/ Mid Atlantic Tennis Professional of the Year.   

Elliott's coaching experience includes coaching at ATP events including French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Also, he has coach juniors at the Jr. Orange Bowl Championships and as a college coach at Washington and Lee Univeristy. He  is a certified USTA High Performance coach, iTPA certified Tennis Performance Trainer, and earned a master degree from University of Kentucky in Kinesiology and Health Promotion (where he was captain of the tennis team).  Elliott has continued to compete in tournaments as an adult achieving #1 USTA/ MAS Men's Open ranking.

Steven Lamptey (PTR) – Senior Pro

Steven grew up in Ghana, West Africa and was raised on the tennis court. His mom and dad were professional tennis players in Togo and Ghana, ranked #1 for years, and his dad was a Davis Cup captain. By 14, Steven was playing for the Junior National Team and was ranked #1. At the age of 18, he began playing for the International Tennis Federation and on their Davis Cup Team. Steven has been teaching juniors to adults in the US for the past 11 years.  Steven’s teaching focuses on players’ health and fitness, while improving their fitness and drilling to improve their overall game.

 Sol Lopez (PTR) – Staff Pro - Sol has been a member of the Club for over 22 years and joined the staff in 2010. She is highly involved in our junior program and assists with the adult program. Sol competes on local league teams and has volunteered for over 15 years with the Montgomery County Tennis Association. She continues to be active at the Maryland District and National levels of the USTA.

Pam Owen – Staff Pro - Staff Teaching Pro - Young Stars and Beginner Tennis at Aspen Hill Club. Tennis instructor Montgomery County Tennis Association programs. Accomplished USTA player teaching tennis at AHC Summer Camps. 2 years - Assistant Tennis Coach at Good Counsel High School.

Pam Owen - Staff Pro

Carolle O'Neil – Staff Pro - Carolle works with our Young Stars, Beginner and Intermediate level juniors and has been a member at AHC since 2010. Carolle is a certified elementary teacher and has worked and lived all over the world. She has also taught many different sports; skiing, scuba diving, canoeing/kayaking, and enjoys staying active. She has also volunteered with the Southern Montgomery Special Olympics tennis and plays on many different competitive tennis teams.

Blake Morton – Staff Pro

Blake was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland and started tennis at the age of 4. He has over 15 years of extensive training under his belt, has played ITF singles and doubles and has achieved rankings in USTA junior and adult Men’s leagues in the Mid-Atlantic. He trained at the Junior Tennis Champion Center (JTCC) where for many years he also did the fitness conditioning program by Pat Etcheberry (fitness trainer to ATP/WTA Grand Slam Tennis Professionals). Blake played for George Washington University.

Miles Blackman (PTR) - Staff Pro

Miles is a PTR certified teaching pro who has experience working with high performance players ranked locally and on the national level. He has also coached the Spring Brook High School Tennis team and worked with the Ann Arundel and Chevy Chase Associations, teaching player of all levels. Miles loves teaching as well as helping others tap into their full potential. Focusing on technique, mental toughness, strategy and physical abilities through a personalized plan he develops, he helps players expand their skill sets to help reach their ultimate tennis goals.

Paul Azu (PTR) - Staff Pro

Paul Azu has been coaching tennis for over 25 years. He is originally from Corona, New York City. He trained at the National Tennis Center and was a highly ranked junior player. Paul acquired his Bachelor degree in Communication and History from Dowling College. Paul played for Dowling for a year, eventually he became the head coach who won the teams first regional championship. Paul coached and directed the REEBOK TENNIS ACADEMY at the National Tennis Center and the NYJTL NATIONAL TEAM. For the past 11 years Paul has developed some of the best nationally ranked juniors in the Mid-Atlantic. His philosophy in tennis is the five major food groups for a solid tennis player, Technique, Eye-hand coordination, Strategy, Footwork and Dedication. On Paul's leisure time he like reading, listening to music and being a disk jockey.
