Spice Up Your Dance:
Bhanghara-Bollywood Demo Saturday, December 16th, 10:00—11:00 am with Smita Khatri Awaken the joy in your heart with this energetic and fun dance form, set to the soul-stirring rhythms of India. Bollywood dance has roots in the Indian film industry, while Bhangra is an energetic North Indian folk dance. This class will combine both dance forms. Students will learn a choreographed piece, but emphasis will be on having fun and not on being perfect! The class will also include some free dance time. Men and women of all ages and all levels are welcome!
About The Instructor: Smita loves to move her body to South Asian dance beats, and enjoys sharing her love of dance with others. She started learning Indian folk dance at the age of 5 and has been instructing classes for the last decade. Since 2007, she has taught Bollywood and Indian folk dance (Bhangra and Garba/Raas) at a variety of dance studios, holistic retreat centers, non-profit organizations, festivals, and events in California, Hawaii, New York, Colorado, Greece, Scotland and India. Smita completed a Nia white belt training in 2017, and a 200-hour yoga teacher training course in 2016. Also, she loves sitting in silence as much as she loves movement.
