Basketball Strength and Conditioning
This program is for children over six years of age who want to improve their basic fundamentals in basketball. Taught by Craig Mitchell, join the group on Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00pm. The cost is $20 per session. Your child will learn the following skills throughout the season:
Ball Handling Drills
Partnered, group, and individual drills.
Dribbling
An emphasis on keeping the ball low, head up, finger tip control, hesitation dribbling during opponent takeaways, and partnered passing drills.
Shooting
There will be a focus on proper shooting form.
Game Situation Drills
The purpose of the game is to teach individuals how to guard and play defense in a one-on-one game, using half court shooting and passing drills that will lead into offensive plays.

Full court basketball is available for play when Group Exercise classes or other fitness-related activities are not
assigned to that space. One half of the court is usually available for play unless otherwise used.
Check-In
All members and their guests must check-in at the Reception Desk prior to playing
basketball.
Kids' Hoop
We would like to announce the addition of our Kids’ hoop on the basketball court. We would like to stress that dunking will not be allowed. Also, we ask that parents refrain from shooting on the hoop with their children.
Guest Policy
The guest fee for basketball is $10.70 per person and must be paid at the Reception
Desk prior to playing. Guests are limited to one (1) visit per month. Guests for basketball, eighteen
(18) and under, must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Dress Code
All members and their guests are to be fully clothed while on the premises. Shoes that
leave marks are not permitted on the court.
Conduct
All members and their guests are required to follow the rules and regulations posted on
the basketball court and listed below. Failure to do so may result in suspension of membership,
relinquishing of guest privileges, or possible termination of membership.
- Pick up games to eleven (11) points
- Waiting players replace losing players
- Respect all calls.
- No profanity or excessive noise.
- No fighting or aggressive behavior
- Shirts are required. Jewelry is prohibited.
- Only shoes with non-marking soles allowed on the court.
- No full or half court shots.
- No food or drinks on the floor.
- Half court games during scheduled classes.
- No grabbing or striking rim, net, or standards.
- Court availability subject to change.
- Vacate floor five (5) minutes prior to class.
- Play under control (keep within court boundaries).
- Players play at their own risk.
- No changing in Racquetball Lounge (Locker Room Only)
- Personal belongings stored in a locker or along the track next to the coat rack near
the pool
- Please do not leave towels or trash on the court or near the court area.
- Absolutely No Dunking on the Kids’ Hoop.
